A .cgm extension file format is compatible with any operating system. These are vector graphics format files that can support three encoding methods. One of these methods is the clear text encoding that allows reading and modification of a file using a text editor.
The odp file format was extended from an XML based file format for presentations. It was standardized as an open source format for presentation type documents in ISO/IEC 26300:2006 in 2005 by the OASIS consortium. It supports a large number of features including object linking and embedding for example embedding WAV files, notes, lists, and line formatting. However, some proprietary features unique to different slide show presentation applications may not be supported.
