The PPTM format combines the XML Architecture with the ZIP compression technology to reduce the file size. Images, audios and videos can be opened using the 7-Zip application if a compatible PPTM editor or reader is not installed on the system. PPTM files can be converted to other formats that include PPT, PDF, PNG, PPTX or JPG. It can also be converted to a video format like MP4 or WMV. The recent additions to the presentations include features like inserting music that plays all through the presentation, sound effects to highlight specific slides, designing the presentation to play on its own just like a movie, recording the slide show with a pointer on one hand and narration on the other, repetition and shuffling the order of the slides as per requirement.
Being a 'lossy image' file format, digital image files saved as .jpg files use encoding algorithms that make inexact approximations of the photographic data to save on storage space during compression. This allows for relatively small files that are suited for delivery over networks or in low bandwidth scenarios. The jpg file format is flexible in that it accommodates a tradeoff between the size of the file and the image quality during compression. Image compression may leave noticeable artifacts in the produced image. The maximum resolution supported by the JPEG format is 4 Giga pixels.
