Kingsoft Writer Document

.WPS is a file extension that provides for word processing documents from Kingsoft Writer, a free alternative to Microsoft Word. The format was developed by Kingsoft, a Chinese software company, for the release of their own office suite back in 1988, WPS Office. WPS is an acronym for Writer, Presentation, and Spreadsheets. Apart from Kingsoft Writer, .WPS is a file extension that provides for Microsoft Works, an earlier project of Microsoft before Microsoft Office. The former office suite was discontinued back in 2007 and is no longer in use. The file extension was replaced by .DOC format, a more versatile and more advanced file format and the standard for Microsoft Office Word known today. Similar to its .DOC counterpart from Word, .WPS can provide the utility of a Word document with the exception of more advanced formatting elements and macros.
TXT

Plain Text File

From the 70's to 2007 the open source .txt filename extension format commonly referred to plain text documents encoded using the ASCII character set. To support internationalization and localization, .txt text documents are today text files encoded using the UTF-8 or UTF-16LE standard which is a superset of the ASCII character set. Text documents of type .txt typically have minimal formatting for example no support for bold or italic characters or support for bullet points etc. This allows .txt documents to use minimum storage space and be platform independent as long as the operating system supports the underlying encoding character set used to create the .txt document. On windows .txt file support has existed since 1985 when Windows 1.0 was released and since then has been mostly associated with the notepad application on Microsoft Windows.

How to convert WPS to TXT

STEP 1

Select the document file in the WPS format to convert to the TXT format, you can select a file from your computer or your Google Drive or Dropbox account.                            

STEP 2

Choose the TXT format from the drop-down list as the output format, and click the Convert button, you can convert up to 5 files at the same time and a maximum size of up to 500 MB.

STEP 3

Wait until your file is uploaded and converted into the TXT document format, you can download the converted file up to a maximum of 5 times, and can also delete the file from the Download page.
